Noncommutative Hypergeometric and Basic Hypergeometric Equations
Recently, J. A. Tirao [Proc. Nat. Acad. Sci. 100 (14) (2003), 8138–8141] considered a matrix-valued analogue of the 2F1 Gauß hypergeometric function and showed that it is the unique solution of a matrix-valued hypergeometric equation analytic at z = 0 with value I, the identity matrix, at z = 0. We give an independent proof of Tirao’s result, extended to the more general setting of hypergeometr...
متن کاملGeneralized basic hypergeometric equations
This paper deals with regular singular generalized q-hypergeometric equations with either “large” or “small” Galois groups. In particular, we consider the fundamental problem of finding appropriate Galoisian substitutes for the usual notion of local monodromy.
متن کاملDiierence Equations with Hypergeometric Coeecients
Let k be a diierence eld with automorphism. Let b be an element of k, and L be a linear ordinary diierence operator with coeecients in k. A classical problem in the theory of diierence equations is to compute all the solutions in k of the equation L(y) = b. If C denotes a constant eld and if k = C(n) and n = n + 1 or n = qn, there are known algorithms (see 2] for example). Manuel Bronstein pres...
متن کاملRuijsenaars ’ Hypergeometric Function and the Modular Double
Simultaneous eigenfunctions of two Askey-Wilson second order difference operators are constructed as formal matrix coefficients of the principal series representation of the modular double of the quantized universal enveloping algebra Uq(sl 2 (C)). These eigenfunctions are shown to be equal to Ruijsenaars' hypergeometric function under a proper parameter correspondence .
متن کاملAlgebraic Hypergeometric Transformations of Modular Origin
It is shown that Ramanujan’s cubic transformation of the Gauss hypergeometric function 2F1 arises from a relation between modular curves, namely the covering of X0(3) by X0(9). In general, when 2 N 7, the N-fold cover of X0(N) by X0(N) gives rise to an algebraic hypergeometric transformation. The N = 2, 3, 4 transformations are arithmetic–geometric mean iterations, but the N = 5, 6, 7 transform...
